Tithe

WHY SHOULD YOU PAY YOUR TITHE ?

Before the Law was the grace. Abraham was the first who paid his tithe. Genesis 14:14-20 ‘’And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.19 And he blessed him,…’’. The 20th verse says : ‘’ And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.’’ This verse is misleading in the King James Version but is well said in the Louis Second French Version. In the King James it appears that Melchizedek paid the Tithe to Abraham because he was the one talking. But in Hebrews 7:2 the Apostle Paul reiterates it clearly saying : ‘ To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace’’. Talking of Melchizedek. Who is actually Jesus-Christ himself.

When the law came with Moses, this Godly principle was carried over in the law. Leviticus 27:30. ‘’And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s: it is holy unto the Lord.’’ Anything that belongs to the Lord CAN NOT be used by anyone except the tribe of the Levites to who the priesthood was given. That’s why they were not allowed to work or to do anything else so they can focus on God’s work and live off of it. Deuteronomy 10:’’  8 At that time the Lord separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day. Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the Lord is his inheritance, according as the Lord thy God promised him.’’ Anybody else, who would use it, would be severely punished and accursed. Remember this: disobedience to God always cost a heavy price. Joshua 7; 1 Samuel 15. When something belongs to God, it is sanctified for His use ; and in return, it provides blessings to whoever it came from. But if you take it back and use it, it becomes a curse. You don’t want that! God has not changed. He is the same. Many situations we face today it’s because we don’t take time to better know the manufacturer of the world enough. But blessings are to those who obey God and don’t use the things that belong to him for themselves but give it to the Lord. Malachi 3 : 8 ‘’Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.’’

After the Law is the grace again. The same priesthood of Melchizedek comes back through the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus-Christ. Ephesians 4: 10-12 ‘’He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.’’ He is the one to whom we pay our tithes. Not to Aaron or Moses. Remember Leviticus 27:30; it belongs to God As well as the tithe of time.
